littlelegs2403 Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 Hi, Can anyone tell me what the Permissable Oil temperature is for the mk1 galaxy as my computer readout went up to 105 degrees while i was cruising at just over 70mph and then when i came off the motorway it dropped back to 87 degrees, Quote
Shabazmo Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 105 is normal and will go to 110 quite often. I have had mine upto 115C on a hot day in France with 7 on board, a roof box and aircon on full. That was 130K miles ago. Quote
bingo nightly Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 My v6 seems to run at between 100 and 115 regularly. Quote

seatkid Posted July 3, 2010 Report Posted July 3, 2010 From the operators manual - "The engine speed should be reduced if the oil temperature rises to +145 deg C" I have run for hours across Germany at 95mph in 37 deg C ambient with oil temperatures touching 130 deg C. Note that temperatures above 100 deg C is desirable from from time to time to remove any water in the oil. If you use good quality synthetic oil, oil temperatures should not be a concern. Oil temperatures are always considerably higher than cooling water temperatures. Normal oil temperatures range from 95 to 115 deg for me. (1.9tdi 90 bhp AHU) Quote
